Copper sheets and Corten steel

Jacques Dieudonné created this sculpture in 2014, aiming to move away from an "oriented" creation and towards an abstraction free from all constraints. He also sought to experiment with contrasts of materials and colors. The sculpture is made of brass and confronts the delicacy of the material with the roughness of corten steel. The patina of the brass contrasts with the rusted and vibrant colors of the corten steel. The sculpture is like a delicate cube with multiple facets that catch the light, and it is placed on a raw base that is inseparable from it, enhancing the brass by contrast.

The aim of this sculpture was to move away from an "oriented" creation to move towards an abstraction free from all constraints, as well as to experiment with contrasts of materials and colours.

Manufacturing process

He first proceeded with research in clay modeling, then plaster molding before enlarging it in metal to the required format. The brass sheets were cut and formed with hammers, assembled by TIG welding, and then patinated with fire before assembling it on its Corten base.
