When Véronique Ellena arrived at Villa Medici, her first contacts were with the gardeners, cleaners, and the cook - the true guardians of the place, whom they have inhabited from generation to generation and never leave. Thanks to them, she had access to unknown places in the location, which turned out to be decisive for her work. Through the Natures Mortes series, she wanted to show a beauty that only reveals itself at the moment when it is on the verge of disappearing.
