Aurélie Lanoiselée takes embroidery beyond its traditional scope. Her experiments with ennobling and up-cycling are turning embroidery codes on their head, inspiring artists and couturiers alike. Combining contemporary materials with exceptional craftsmanship, his creations have been attracting interest from Europe's leading Haute Couture houses since 2002.
"Textiles are a sensitive material that is created over time through the desires and creations of artisans - from coloring to finishes, from volumes to surfaces, from embellishment to embroidery - it is an ever-evolving universe that serves art objects, interior design, and haute couture."
Aurélie Lanoiselée's practice revolves around vernacular embroidery and textile finishing techniques (mixed dyes, creation of materials, primers, etc.), which enable her to work with surfaces as well as volumes. The creation and recycling of materials, needle embroidery, Lunéville crochet, beading and crochet work enrich the range of possibilities open to the designer, who creates contemporary pieces adapted to different constraints.
