Trained in both gilding and woodcarving, Frédéric Richard heads RG Les cadres Gault, a company specializing in the manufacture of high-quality frames. Founded in 1880 by Emile Gault, the company took off in 1936, when the opening of a boutique in St-Germain-des-Prés enabled it to collaborate with famous artists such as Picasso, Chagall and Dalí.
"Today, I work with designers and decorators on contemporary creations."
In the workshop in Ecuisses, Burgundy, where the company was established in 1954, each generation of apprentice craftsmen is trained by the oldest. When Frédéric Richard joined the workshop in 1980, he learned the skills of gilding and woodcarving.
