Graduated in 2002 from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Mona Oren draws her inspiration from nature and the plant world. The artist develops a protean body of work, with sculpture remaining its center of gravity. Her work questions the measurement of time, imprint and memory.
"Wax is my first love, and with it I draw my inner, personal and emotional experience in minute variations of thickness."
In Dead Sea Project (2019-2021), she sows a field of wax flowers in the Dead Sea. Fossilized under layers of salt, the flowers disappear forever into the water. In Wax Tulip Mania (2020-ongoing), she invites us to a collective work, the project of a virtual field of flowers through digital cartography.
