Nadège Mouyssinat has always been driven by a deep passion for porcelain. This craftsmanship was passed down to her by the “porcelain grandfathers of Limoges,” exceptional artisans who entrusted her with their precise gestures and love for the trade. Witnesses to a vanishing art, they gave her more than just a technique—they instilled in her a philosophy, a sense of rigor, and an intimate connection to the material. Fascinated by the transformation of clay into a precious object, she spent ten years perfecting her skills in the most prestigious manufactories before opening her own studio. Each piece she creates is a tribute to these artisans while asserting a contemporary vision of the craft. She fights to keep this tradition alive, breathe new energy into it, and reinterpret it to ensure its future. Her motivation is fueled by a desire for both preservation and innovation—rooted in history yet looking toward tomorrow.
"Porcelain has memory and allows no room for error. It is my language, a mystical link between the past and the future, where each piece is an adventure blending technique, magic, and transmission."
Nadège Mouyssinat adopts an approach where art and design engage in a harmonious dialogue. Her work is rooted in a perfect mastery of traditional porcelain techniques, which she transcends through bold formal exploration. Each creation stems from a balance between craftsmanship and artistic expression, resulting in sculptural pieces that are both refined and vibrant. Committed to the craft’s excellence, she treats porcelain as a living material, pushing its limits to reveal its full subtlety. With mastery over ancient techniques, she seeks to reinterpret them, playing with contrasts like opacity and translucency, tension and flexibility, rigidity and fluidity. Every piece is a vibrant object where emotion flows from form and touch. At the crossroads of design and contemporary art, her work blends innovation with craftsmanship’s memory. She shapes her pieces with the precision of a designer and the intuition of an artist, seeking balance between heritage and modernity.
