Alice Dorn designs and creates unique handmade pieces, and offers customized and commissioned creations. In parallel, she continues varied artistic and experimental textile research, ranging from electronic fabrics to vegetable dyeing.
"My interiority is my athanor... And my workshop is the place where this alchemy can take shape. My materials mix pigments, papers, inks, copper, wax, gold leaves, thread spools, movie films... with my feelings, my intuitions, my emotions, my personal experiences. Art gives life and body to emotion, to the expression of the Mystery. Art is transmutation and healing. I am passionate about ancient techniques, know-how that requires meticulousness, intimate and sensitive dialogue with matter... But also, patience. One of the things I particularly love about my practice is that every day is an opportunity for new discoveries, new explorations, deepening my experiences and my know-how."
In 2011, Alice Dorn discovered cinema through the Treiz association in Rennes. She was introduced to the practice of argentic cinema, co-directing short films with various filmmakers. She made her first solo film, "Rouge "which was presented at the Etats Généraux du film documentaire de Lussas in August 2012. She makes most of her films in super 8 (color or black and white), which she develops herself by hand.
