Portrait

Born in 1971 in France, Didier Mutel is an engraver and intaglio printer. Based in Orchamps, Jura, the Mutel workshop is equipped with historic presses dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

"Atypical prints, surprising formats, the workshop questions, shifts and reorganizes a practice. Research is omnipresent, and is combined with transmission to a new generation to ensure that this age-old story continues."

Atelier Mutel's aim is to respectfully and energetically dust off techniques that have tended to be described as obsolete, in order to create poetic works that are in tune with the contemporary world. Prints, artists' books, collaborations, exchanges and training.
