Portrait
lorent Rousseau is an artist who trained at the Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs and the École Estienne. Since 1988, he has devoted himself to his artistic activity as an installer. He also teaches book design at the Atelier d'Arts Appliqués in Le Vésinet. Over the years, Florent Rousseau has been founding president of two bookbinding associations: AIR neuf and APPAR. He also created a new association called LE CERCLE, which brings together his former students in book decoration. His involvement in these associations testifies to his desire to promote and support the bookbinding professions.
"If you don't try, you'll only make one mistake. We start with the material and work our way back to it again and again. We are passers-by who sublimate our know-how to the delight of enlightened amateurs."
Florent Rousseau has taken part in numerous exhibitions in France and abroad, bringing his work to a wide audience. Three retrospectives have been specially devoted to his work, notably in Paris, Brussels and Châteauroux. One of his recent creations was a special commission for Emmanuel Macron during his official visit to India. The binding, in moire and mother-of-pearl, testifies to Florent Rousseau's mastery and creativity.
