Portrait
For over 30 years, Nelly Saunier has put her artistic talent at the service of featherwork. Having found her vocation, she studied featherwork techniques at the Lycée Octave Feuillet, then completed her training with the study of textile design at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art Olivier de Serres. Early in her career, Nelly Saunier collaborated with many famous haute couture houses such as Chanel, Givenchy, Nina Ricci, Isabelle Marant, Louboutin and Jean-Paul Gaultier, creating spectacular one-off pieces for them. She has also worked with renowned designers, created costumes for the cinema, and more recently, exceptional and infinitely delicate pieces for haute joaillerie and haute horlogerie houses.
"The pen has no limits in its ability to express emotions."
In her Paris workshop, Nelly Saunier never stops experimenting, virtuously transcending ancestral know-how to achieve unexpected plastic effects. Nelly Saunier enjoys transforming nature ad infinitum, as illustrated by her Nature Transformée® series, illusions of feathered flowers. Her works play with the texture and infinite richness of feathers, through trompe-l'œil, make-believe and metamorphosis.
