Founded by Elodie Michaud and Rebecca Fezard in 2016, hors-studio specializes in material and surface design.
hors-studio conducts research and development through design, focusing on the reuse of industrial and artisanal production scraps and waste.
The transformation of these “waste resources” is achieved through a mastery of artisanal techniques combined with new technologies, using scraps that are collected, ground, and micronized, resulting in new materials, objects, and installations.
hors-studio approaches projects in a cross-disciplinary manner, at the intersection of design, lifestyle, and space.
"We bear the responsibility of bringing new objects into the world, and in doing so, we adhere to an unchanging principle: transforming these neglected resources using natural binders, free from petrochemicals."
We are Élodie Michaud and Rebecca Fezard, a duo driven by the deep conviction that there is another way: to create differently and reinvent how things are done. As designers, craftspeople, researchers, and artists, the “outside” of the studio is our compass; it guides us in breaking down the boundaries between disciplines and thinking beyond established frameworks.
It is in this space of freedom that our projects are born, where innovation meets traditional craftsmanship and where creation engages with ecology. At hors-studio, waste is considered a resource of the 21st century. We are convinced that it deserves to be transformed, and we are dedicated to reshaping it to tell the story of our regions. Inspired by our decorative heritage, every initiative and every material reflects our commitment to an artistic approach that never loses sight of the essential: acting to preserve.
