Clémence Althabegoïty is a designer and visual artist based in Paris. She graduated from the Centre for Research Architecture of Goldsmiths (University of London) in 2019, the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2018, and the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. Her practice seeks to create alternative solutions, raise awareness, and think critically about rising temperatures, pollution (noise, air, and soil), and water scarcity. Her work has been exhibited at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal, the Goethe Institut in Paris, the Design Museum in Holon, and the Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2021, she won the FAIRE 2021 competition at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal and the Wisewomen ‘Art and Creation’ category. In 2023, she won the ‘Vivants Voyageurs #3’ open call from the Greater Paris Metropolis and the Société du Grand Paris, with a commendation from the COAL jury. In 2024, she joined the BDMMA's Ateliers de Paris.
"A typical example taught at the DAE was that we were not asked to design a chair, but to think about the needs of sitting in a specific context."
Her practice is a hybrid between design, art, and science. In collaboration with scientific institutes such as the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris' Observatory, and BruitParif, she is interested in silence, water, and air, and their interactions with matter. Based on contextual analysis and material research, she designs objects, installations, and scenographies. By applying the unique properties of materials, each project becomes an opportunity to explore new media and create site-specific works.
